Week of February 22, 2016

 

Objective: Students will mathematically compute, in writing, monthly credit card statements when minimum payments are made using the handouts, calculators and a partner for support.

 

Assignment: Read and add vocabulary from Sections 4.5 and 4.6.  Complete # 1-7, 14- 16 in Section 4.5 and for section 4.6 complete Activity 15.1 (available in the classroom).

As assigned on February 4, 2016:

There will not be a unit test for this unit, instead students will work in teams to complete a project chosen from page 211-212 projects 1-5 or 8.   These projects will be presented in class on February 26, 2012.  Students will work in teams of two or three

Assignment:  Complete the unit projects.  E-mail any files that will be presented on Friday February 26, 2016 to your teacher before class.

February 16,17,18 and 19, 2016

 

Students worked in their project teams on the Chapter Project.

Students used the ABCs of Credit website to learn about the world of credit cards.  Students will complete 10 on-line lessons and take practice tests and a final exam, all outside of class.

February 11 and 12, 2016

Students chose Project and partner for Chapter Assessment.

 

Objective:  Students learned how to calculate the length of a loan given the Monthly Payment, interest rate and principal using the Financial Application on the TI-84 Plus calculator

Assignment: Financial Algebra p. 191, Problems 1-10, skip 6

February 9 and 10, 2016

Students worked in their Credit Project Teams for the first part of the period.

Objective:  Students investigated how to read a credit report and how they are used to approve loan applications. Students used the Financial Fitness for Life workbook exercises 12.1 and 13.2 pages 73-83.

Assignment:  Complete exercises 12.1 and 13.2 in the handout.  Complete missing assignments.

February 5 and 8, 2016

Students worked the first part of the period on their Unit Final Project.

Objective: Students will see how to calculate monthly payments of a loan using loan payment tables and the Monthly Payment Formula.  Then they will learn to use the Finance Application on the TI-84 calculator to find any missing information for an installment loan.

February 3 and 4, 2016

Objective: Students will learn to:

  • Identify different kinds of credit that financial institutions extend to individuals and companies.
  • Identify key terms associated with different kinds of credit.
  • Recognize the advantages and disadvantages of using credit.
  • Explain how most credit transactions benefit both parties.

Using the Financial Fitness for Life worksheet.  Partner discussions and Class discussion

Class Work: In class students read worksheet pages 66-71, answer the study questions on pages 67, 70 and 71 and turn in the worksheets  at the end of the period.

Read pages 172-177 in Financial Algebra

Assignment:  Financial Algebra p. 178-179, Problems 2-12 even, 19-20
