# September 24 and 25, 2015

Students reviewed the Chapter 1 Practice Test and took the Chapter 1 Test.

# September 22 and 23, 2015

**Objective:** Students will review the concepts learned in Chapter 1 of Financial Algebra by completing the Chapter Applications in teams of two or three.

**Classwork:** Students will complete problems 1-4,9-12, 16,18,20 on pages 59-61 in Financial Algebra. This is due at the end of the period.

**Assignment: 2015 Investments Practice Test**. Students will review the answers to the Practice test at the beginning of the next class period and then take the Chapter 1 Investments Test.

# September 18 and 21, 2015

Objective: Students will learn about dividends and preferred stock vs. common stock.

Read pages 51 – 54.

**Assignment**: Problems 3 – 13 on pages 55 – 56

# September 16-17, 2015

**Objective: **Students will learn to calculate the post-split outstanding shares and share price for a traditional and a reverse stock split.

Read pages 45-48 in Financial Algebra.

**Assignment:** Financial Algebra p. 49 Problems 3-11 odd

# September 14 and 15, 2015

**Objective:** Students will learn the vocabulary for buying and selling shares of stock and how to compute gains and losses from stock trades and fees involved in buying and selling stocks.

Read pages 35-37 and pages 40-42 in Financial Algebra

**Assignment:** Financial Algebra p. 38, Problems 1-3, 6-8; p. 43-44, Problems 2, 3, 5

# September 10 and 11, 2015

**Objective:** Students will learn how to smooth data by calculating the simple moving average using the arithmetic average formula. Students will investigate how using this calculation will help to predict the future stock price using a stock price graph. Students will learn how to read a stock ticker to determine the price and volume of each ticker transaction.
